Compensation and Benefits

Salary is competitive and negotiable depending on the strength of qualifications. This is a CSU Management Personnel Plan (MPP) position.

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 14 paid holidays a year. Job Summary

The Dean of Undergraduate Studies directly reports and is responsible to the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs. The dean is responsible for undergraduate academic course and program development as well as review for the general education program. The incumbent is also responsible for the managerial oversight of the Undergraduate Studies Office, the Academic Scheduling Office, the Smittcamp Family Honors College and the Early Assessment Program.

This is a managerial position covered by the Management Personnel Plan. Management / Supervisory duties include interviewing, selecting, and training of employees; setting and adjusting their rates of pay and hours of work; directing their work; appraising their productivity and efficiency for the purpose of recommending retention, salary adjustments or other changes in their status; handling or recommending resolution to their complaints and grievances and recommending disciplinary action when necessary; planning the work; determining the techniques to be used; and proportioning the work among the employees.

Key Qualifications
  • An outstanding record of teaching, scholarship, service, and leadership commensurate with appointment as a full professor in an area of specialization offered by one of the academic programs at Fresno State.
  • Ability to design, implement, and assess innovative programs in academic affairs.
  • Demonstrated commitment to faculty governance, consultative processes, and consensus building.
  • Strong experience implementing procedures, policies, and regulations at the campus level.
  • Knowledge of high impact strategies and practices for supporting and retaining students.
  • Consistently positive and effective experience managing staff.

Education and Experience
  • An earned doctorate from a regionally accredited four-year institution.
  • A minimum of five years of progressive experience and leadership in college/school academic administration, equivalent to chair or associate dean.
