DESCRIPTION
Mendocino-Lake Community College District is currently accepting applications for a full-time, Assistant Dean, Health Careers/Nursing Director.

This is a full-time, 40-hour per week, 12 month per year Educational Administrator position. We are seeking an equity-minded person who is committed to supporting our diverse student population and the District Mission. Please review our District Mission, Goals, and Values

This position reports to the Dean of Career Education. The Assistant Dean, Health Careers/Nursing Director will serve as the BRN recognized Director of the Nursing Program and perform all of the duties associated with that role, including supervising and coordinating the nursing program in accord with applicable regulations, requirements, and policies. As an Assistant Dean, this position will oversee other health career related disciplines in addition to Nursing.

RESPONSIBILITIES
At this time, this includes the Mendocino College Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) program and a Paramedics program being offered at Mendocino College by the College of the Siskiyous. The successful candidate will supervise all nursing and PTA faculty. The PTA faculty includes a PTA Director and a Clinical Director who provide the day-to-day operational leadership. The Paramedics program gets its instructional leadership from the College of the Siskiyous. The Assistant Dean will coordinate offering the program at Mendocino College.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
The salary range is $124,993 - $144,695 annually. There are four annual step movements; initial placement will be at step 1, unless approved by the Superintendent/President. Please see the current salary schedule here: MLCCD - Salary Schedule

Benefits: With no monthly premium contribution from the employee, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes family medical, dental, vision, EAP benefits and employee life insurance. Additional voluntary life insurance is available for employee purchase. Benefits are effective the first of the month following hire date.

Holidays and Paid Time Off: The successful candidate will earn twenty-one (21) days of vacation and twelve (12) days of sick leave per year. Vacation leave increases with the length of service. There are nineteen (19) paid holidays annually.

Retirement: This position is eligible for CalPERS OR CalSTRS Retirement.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
The successful candidate will support institutional and student success with the completion of the following duties;

Duties as Assistant Dean, Health Careers

In collaboration with the Dean of Career Education and Full-Time faculty in the departments:

Oversees selection, training and evaluation of full-time and part-time faculty, program managers and support staff; determines teaching assignments; provides general supervision including orientation, professional development, general assistance, determining priorities, resolving problems and coordinating/conducting evaluations.

Provides administrative oversight for assigned instructional programs including program review, program and curriculum development and staffing recommendations and capital outlay requests.

Supervises and promotes the curriculum development by faculty to respond to student and community needs.

Develops and prepares grant applications, budgets, and reports for local, state, and federal grant-supported and district programs; follows up as necessary.

Assists with the institutional accreditation process and accreditation processes for individual programs as needed.

Oversees fiscal management of assigned instructional programs.

Represents the college to the public; establishes contact with the local community public agencies, school principals, counselors, teachers, business organizations, service organizations, and cultural entities.

Assists in the promotion and marketing of the college image and assigned instructional programs. Establishes connections and partnerships with local businesses that support the programs.

Receives student, faculty, and other complaints and conducts appropriate follow-up.

Represents the District at assigned local, regional, and state meetings; organizes and serves on committees as assigned; works evenings and weekends when necessary; performs other duties as assigned.

Builds upon collaborative efforts locally and regionally with health care partners, other colleges, and the Mendocino Lake Adult and Career Education (MLACE) Consortium.

Arranges and facilitates advisory committee meetings; retains related records.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean of Career Education.

Duties as Nursing Director

Interprets nursing program requirements and objectives to administration and other relevant college departments and personnel; serves as liaison to facilitate student success.

Completes required reports and approval forms for the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN), Mendocino College and other constituencies; completes annual program reviews for College as well as taking primary responsibility for the total program review/recertification.

Monitors the nursing program for compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and rules.

Prepares self-study report for BRN approval visit; the nursing program evaluation plan; and curriculum development, submits proposals for curriculum changes.

Responds to any recommendations from the BRN approval visit and leads the department in resolving those recommendations.

Develops and supervises the nursing program budget and inventory, including CTEA and grant funding.

Determines teaching assignments, including continuing education, and the preparation of the nursing class schedule, in compliance with applicable regulations.

Assigns clinical and classroom instructional load.

In collaboration with Human Resources, leads the recruitment and selection of nursing faculty including the determination and verification of required qualifications; submits faculty to BRN for approval.

Supervises all faculty in the nursing program including orienting new nursing faculty to the college, conducting or participating in faculty evaluations, facilitating faculty meetings, developing and supervising BRN remediation plan for nursing faculty.

Continues and builds upon collaborative efforts locally and regionally with health care partners, other colleges, and the Mendocino Lake Adult and Career Education (MLACE) Consortium.

Initiates and maintains contractual agreements and clinical schedules with community service agencies used as clinical sites for nursing students.

Evaluates the Nursing Program through an equity lens.

Supports student recruitment activities; reviews and maintains any required student records; assists students with licensure applications.

Issues certificates of completion for continuing education courses consistent with BRN regulations. Ensures currency and completeness of nursing program information in the college catalog and website.

Collaborates with faculty in reviewing and approving the textbook list for the nursing program and with Library personnel to ensure breadth and currency of library resources.

Receives, reviews, and facilitates resolution of complaints for nursing program.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Office, classroom, and clinical settings. May be required to travel to various clinical sites and Center Locations throughout Mendocino and Lake County. May be required to work evenings and weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS
Must meet the minimum qualifications for faculty in California Community Colleges; Master's in Nursing OR Bachelor's in Nursing AND Master's in Health Education of Health Science OR the equivalent OR the minimum qualifications as set by the Board of Registered Nursing, whichever is higher.

AND

Must meet the minimum requirements of the Board of Registered Nursing (1425(a)) to work as a Director of a Professional Nursing Program.

Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

All candidates must receive final approval by the BRN as qualified according to Board Guidelines
