Essential Functions of Position:
Under the direction of the Executive Vice President-Educational Programs, will plan, organize, control and direct assigned instructional and student support operations, activities, departments and programs; coordinate and direct communications, information, resources and personnel to meet the instructional and student support needs of the College and enhance the educational effectiveness of assigned departments, programs and functions; supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned full-time faculty, part-time faculty, classified staff and student workers.

Primary responsibility and leadership is in the areas of Library, Distance Education, Faculty Resources and Learning Support Services departments. Specific assignments are subject to change based upon the changing needs of Educational Programs at SBCC. We are seeking candidates who understand and respect the need for flexibility in assignments.

Minimum Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must possess the minimum qualifications for the discipline as approved by the California Community Colleges Board of Governors and defined in the Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administrators in California Community Colleges handbook.

The candidate must meet the following criteria:
1. Possession of a masters degree; AND
One year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrators administrative assignment; OR
2. Combination of education and other accomplishments that is equivalent to the above. (If claiming equivalency, attach a separate statement that presents the basis for this claim and submit supporting evidence, e.g., transcripts, publications, and other work products.)
3. Evidence of a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, culture, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff.

If the title of your degree as stated on your transcripts does not exactly match one of the degree titles listed in the minimum qualifications, you must complete an equivalency statement and attach it in the Equivalency field under the documents needed to apply. Degree titles that are not an exact match will not be considered outside of the equivalency process.

Masters or Ph.D. in library science, library and information science, OR the equivalent.
Experience with Online Modalities/Distance Education or related fields.
Ability to communicate needs of departments and technical programs effectively to senior management.
Experience and demonstrated leadership in the following areas: strategies for promoting student learning, retention and achievement while maintaining academic standards; application of technology and alternative delivery systems to instruction; curriculum development and evaluation; and professional development of faculty and instructional staff.
Experience in working with students and staff from diverse cultural, ethnic, socioeconomic, academic and disability backgrounds.
Experience with curriculum standards, requirements, and assessments, and instructional techniques and strategies related to Library and Learning Resource academic functions, programs, and services.
Experience in developing and managing learning resource projects, programs, services and activities.
Experience with applications of technology and alternative delivery systems to instruction.
Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of the California Community Colleges.
Knowledge of technical education issues, trends and policies, particularly as they pertain to community colleges.
Understanding of and experience with CCCCO student initiatives such as the Student Equity and Achievement Program and Planning, Guided Pathways and the Vision for Student Success.
College/university teaching experience in one or more of the disciplines for which this position is responsible.
Possession of excellent interpersonal communication skills and experience in conflict mediation.
Demonstrated success in grant writing, acquisition of grants and donations, and managing grant-funded projects.
Demonstrated knowledge of management approaches that encourage creativity and promote teaching excellence.
Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff and to function effectively in a shared governance environment.
Ability to develop and manage budgets.
Experience in working with community resources to generate support for college programs.
Experience with applications of technology and alternative delivery systems to instruction.
Ability to initiate and manage new instructional programs and projects.

Salary & Benefits:
The current salary range for the Dean of Educational Programs position is Salary Table 30, Range 165, $128,642-$145,541, plus an earned doctoral bonus of $3,042.80. This position will increase one step each year and has the potential to reach the current maximum step of $156,714. Starting salary is commensurate with full-time related, paid experience. In addition to salary, each full-time employee participates in a cafeteria style Health & Welfare Benefits Program.
