Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC)

Associate Social Worker (ASW)

Monterey Peninsula College's internship program, established in 1989, offers outstanding opportunities for associates under the supervision of Christine Vincent, LMFT of Monterey Peninsula College. The student population offers a great variety of therapeutic challenges in a very diverse mix of ages and culture. Bilingual Spanish-English desirable.

10 client hours per week, $25/hour

Example of Duties

Example of Duties:
Under the leadership of the department Coordinator of Student Health Services and the Psychological Services Clinical Supervisor, the Associate Mental Health Professional is responsible for providing personal and couples counseling, completing psychosocial assessments, developing care plans, assisting with mental health events, conducting skills workshops and psychoeducation; and providing crisis support for our diverse student population. The Associate Mental Health Professional is part of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for planning and implementing a program of group and individual treatment modalities of care.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
Must possess a Master's degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, or Professional Clinical Counseling and be registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.

Must maintain proper liability insurance throughout their employment.

Must pass a background clearance.

Must submit proof of a negative tuberculosis test or chest x-ray.

Must display effective communication skills, be culturally competent, have the ability to adapt to various demands of clients, must show ability to demonstrate dependability, and willingness to show initiative in carrying out responsibilities.

Must attend and participate in weekly supervision meetings.

Associates will be provided with weekly supervision by a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in accordance with state requirements.

Demonstrate an understanding of, sensitivity to and appreciation for, the academic, ethnic, socio-economic, disability and gender diversity of students and staff attending or working on a community college campus.

Proof of Vaccination

New employees may begin working in their assignments only after the district has received proof that the person is fully vaccinated or an exemption has been approved.

Work Schedule / Supplemental Information

This position is designated as an short-term, non-continuous college assistant and will be paid at the rate of $25 an hour

The work schedule for this position is 10 hours a week
